Changing the approach to independent baseball Travel baseball is a tremendous commitment, both physically and financially. To play on most of the better travel teams on Long Island, you are subjected to grueling tryouts, inflated egos from coaches, high cost for little training. Our approach is to develop the young player. If a child has ability, and is willing to listen and make the commitment to practice, we believe we can help mold the players of tomorrow. Our fees, although more than your average little league, are similar most travel organizations around, with the fees going to training. Unlike other organizations, the Angels will help you fund raise your fees to defer the cost if want. Below is a brief description of how our program works! We look forward to having you join our Angels family! Professional Coaching at all levels
The Long Island Angels program offers paid professional coaching to all of our players in order to give each committed player attentive and dedicated instruction. Each Long Island Angels team will be lead by one professional coach, whose priority will be to help, guide, and instruct his team. Our coaches are experienced and knowledgeable and their playing credentials range from high minor league, semi pro, to collegiate baseball, and have previous coaching experience at various levels of play. There will be a director of coaching to ensure that the same uniform fundamentals and coaching principles take place at each team’s practice.
Weekly Winter Workouts
Prior to the year’s first pitch, our teams will have the benefit of weekly winter workouts. These hour and a half workouts will consist of core conditioning with professional trainers, attention to fundamental drills, and concentrated preparation for our spring season. Held at Prospect Sports in Farmingdale, these indoor sessions will be a great advantage for each team, as they work hard before it is time to go outside. Weekly Individual Instruction (Spring, Summer and Fall)
Also included in our fees are individual private hitting and pitching lessons. Players will be offered weekly half hour lessons from professional instructors at Prospect Sports in Farmingdale, with your choice of hitting or pitching. These lessons include state of the art Pro Mirror Video System. This amazing system will break down each players swing right before their eyes and allow them to visually compare practice swings to game time swings. In addition, it can isolate specific mechanical aspects of a pitchers delivery in his lesson, and directly compare it to the pitchers in game delivery. Our instructors will be working closely with the coaches to make sure the specifics of each player’s lessons are applied when he’s working with the team. Bi-Weekly Clinics ( Spring, Summer and Fall) As part of our commitment to growing and playing as a united organization, the Long Island Angels will hold bi-weekly clinics throughout all three seasons. Players representing all the Angel’s teams will combine to learn from the group of our professional coaches. During these clinics, players will be focusing a different specified skill such as base running, pitching, outfield work, catching, etc. in order to strengthen their understanding of the game in a group environment. No other travel organization offers extensive year round training sessions with such professional quality!
Cost and Commitment We expect complete dedication to your individual team. We understand that many of our children play other sports, but we expect Angel’s games and practices to go before other events. Remember, we are building a long term program that we hope your child will benefit gratefully from, but we will only succeed if we have 100% participation. The cost of play is broken down into 4 distinct parts as follows

How can I cut my fees?
Although our fees are comparable or even lower than most of the better travel organizations, we understand that some may have a problem paying for such a program. Remember, these fees go to our coaches, clinic and d training. Most of the better players on Long Island take year round private lessons to sharpen their skills. In most places, 10 lessons would cost between $450 and $500 dollars, with no interaction between your trainer and your team coach. If you were to add the cost of outside training to other travel organizations fees, you will find our fees are lower than most. The difference is that our trainers will be working with the team coaches, to insure that what they are taught in a lesson is translated into the game! We believe this is a valuable resource!! To help offset the fees, we have developed a personal sponsorship program. The deposit of $250.00 is due approximately 3 months prior to league start time to guarantee our spot in the league. The balance will be due approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of play. We encourage our players to go into the community and sell modest web adds to help offset the cost. We will have various size adds, from $100 and up, and 100% of the ad fee will be credited towards your fee. For example, if you pay $250.00 to secure your spot, and between now and March 1st you sell two $250.00 ads to your local deli or dry cleaner, you will basically pay for the remainder of your season! If you sell three, we will cut you a check as a refund, and you can almost play for free! Merchants sponsor organizations all the time, but your hard work will 100% go towards your fee, with the Angels absorbing the cost of creating the ad, purchasing the plaque, ect. download sponsorship form We will also be designating team leaders for each team to help coordinate group fund raising efforts to alleviate cost of potential tournaments and other costs.
